Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Trails Guide / Safari Guide to join our team and deliver exceptional guest experiences.
The ideal candidate will have strong bush knowledge, excellent guiding skills, and a commitment to safety, conservation, and guest satisfaction. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic outdoor environment and enjoys sharing the beauty of nature with guests.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct safari-related activities, including game drives, bush walks, and guest activities.
Conduct morning drives, afternoon drives, night drives, family drives, and bush walks.
Lead safe, educational, and memorable bush walks.
Host guests and ensure a warm, professional, and engaging guest experience.
Participate in the Junior Conservationists programme.
Continue developing guiding knowledge and work towards further qualifications.
Assist with conservation and reserve-related activities when required.
Support the lodge and reserve teams with reasonable duties from time to time.
Treat fellow colleagues with respect and professionalism.
Look after guiding equipment and ensure it is maintained properly.
Ensure safari vehicles and equipment are always clean, neat, safe, and presentable.
Follow all lodge, reserve, and safety protocols during guiding activities.
Promote conservation awareness and responsible wildlife practices.
Skills and Competencies
Minimum FGASA Level 1, NQF 2.
Full Trails qualification preferred.
Back-up Trails Guide working towards Full Trails Guide may be considered.
Valid Wilderness First Aid certificate.
Valid Professional Driving Permit, also known as PrDP.
Valid Advanced Rifle Handling qualification.
SAPS business competency for rifle use.
Strong organisational skills.
Mature, responsible, and professional nature.
Big 5 guiding experience will be preferred.
Strong guest interaction and communication skills.
Safety-conscious and calm under pressure.
Passionate about wildlife, conservation, and hospitality.
