Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Trails Guide / Safari Guide to join our team and deliver exceptional safari and bush experiences to guests.
The ideal candidate will have strong guiding skills, sound bush knowledge, and a strong commitment to safety, conservation, and guest satisfaction. This role is suited to someone who enjoys working in a dynamic outdoor environment and sharing the beauty of nature with guests.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct safari-related activities, including morning, afternoon, and night drives.
Conduct family drives, bush walks, and other guest activities.
Lead safe, educational, and engaging bush walks.
Host guests and ensure a warm, professional, and memorable guest experience.
Participate in the Junior Conservationists programme.
Continue developing guiding knowledge and strive to further education and qualifications.
Assist with conservation and reserve-related activities when required.
Support lodge and reserve operations where reasonably requested.
Treat fellow colleagues with respect and professionalism.
Look after guiding equipment and ensure it is properly maintained.
Ensure safari vehicles and equipment are always clean, neat, safe, and presentable.
Promote conservation awareness and responsible wildlife practices.
Follow all lodge, reserve, and safety protocols during guiding activities.
Skills and Competencies
Minimum FGASA Level 1, NQF 2.
Full Trails qualification preferred.
Back-up Trails Guide working towards Full Trails Guide may be considered.
Valid Wilderness First Aid certificate.
Valid Professional Driving Permit, also known as PrDP.
Valid Advanced Rifle Handling qualification.
SAPS business competency for rifle use.
Strong organisational skills.
Mature, responsible, and professional nature.
Big 5 guiding experience will be preferred.
Strong guest interaction and communication skills.
Safety-conscious and calm under pressure.
Passionate about wildlife, conservation, and hospitality.
