Relief People / HR AdministratorAbout the Position

The main purpose of the Relief People / HR Administrator is to support the People Manager in implementing the people strategy and ensuring the effective management of people-related activities.

The successful candidate will report to the People Manager and General Manager. This role may also be required to perform other tasks as reasonably requested from time to time, depending on the needs of the business and operation.

The role requires someone who can foster a culture of collaboration, support the multi-skilling of staff, and contribute positively to employee welfare, wellness, and community development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage departmental responsibilities when the People Manager is away.

  • Provide support and guidance to members of the management team, helping them manage according to Singita’s vision, mission, and values.

  • Ensure people-related activities are carried out in line with company policies and procedures.

  • Responsible for core junior personnel administration and payroll support.

  • Facilitate and encourage training and development of employees.

  • Assist with Industrial Relations matters.

  • Capture data and prepare reports.

  • Facilitate staff welfare, employee health, and wellness initiatives.

  • Assist with recruitment and onboarding.

  • Coordinate and order employee equipment and housing requirements.

  • Provide ad hoc support to staff.

  • Manage and complete general HR administration.

  • Assist with the ordering, coordination, and issuing of staff wardrobe items.

  • Actively contribute to sustainability programmes, wellness projects, and related initiatives.

  • Encourage staff commitment and involvement in community development projects.

Skills and Experience
  • HR qualification is preferable.

  • Previous experience in HR.

  • Hospitality background is preferable.

  • Experience in recruitment and onboarding.

  • Experience in HR-related administration.

  • Sound knowledge of labour law and disciplinary procedures.

  • Passionate about staff welfare and local community needs.

  • Personal values that include fairness, integrity, confidentiality, and the ability to remain non-judgmental.

  • Discretion and patience.

  • Empathetic nature with genuine concern and care for others.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Accuracy and strong attention to detail.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Good English communication skills.

  • Computer literacy, especially in MS Word, MS Excel, and Sage VIP.

  • Valid driver’s licence.

  • South African nationality or valid working visa.
