Animal Health

General / Standard Responsibilities

Monitor the general health and wellbeing of animals on the farm. Conduct regular animal health inspections and identify any signs of illness, injury, or disease. Assist with the prevention, treatment, and control of animal diseases. Administer vaccinations, medication, and treatments as required and within the applicable scope of practice. Assist with animal health programmes, including vaccination and parasite control programmes. Monitor animals and report any health concerns or abnormalities to management and/or the relevant veterinarian. Maintain accurate and up-to-date animal health records and treatment records. Assist with animal handling, examinations, and routine health procedures. Assist with maintaining appropriate farm biosecurity and hygiene standards. Monitor the condition and wellbeing of livestock and report any concerns. Work closely with farm management, staff, and veterinarians regarding animal health matters. Ensure that all duties are performed in accordance with relevant legislation, industry standards, and SAVC requirements. Maintain proper stock levels and records of veterinary medicines and animal health products, where applicable. Animal Health Technician Assist with emergency animal health situations as required. Perform other general, administrative, and ad hoc animal health duties as reasonably requested by management.
