The purpose of this role is to provide employees working in a remote environment with access to a safe space where their children can interact, play, and learn.
The programme currently supports children aged 2 to 13 years. Its aim is to provide a safe and enjoyable environment where children can reach their full cognitive, emotional, social, and physical potential.
The curriculum adopts an eclectic approach, using CAPS as a guideline and aligning with South African Department of Education standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Private Game Lodge Teacher’s Assistant will be responsible for the following key areas:
Assist with all essential classroom requirements, including Occupational Health and Safety and administrative duties.
For children aged 5 and above: deliver structured lessons appropriate to their age group in an engaging and constructive manner.
For children aged 2 to 4: design and oversee developmental and educational activities.
Assist with lesson planning and classroom activities.
Support classroom administration and daily preparation tasks.
Support structured learning activities and developmental play-based learning.
Maintain a safe, stimulating, and organised learning environment, both indoors and outdoors.
Collaborate effectively with teachers, management, and lodge departments when necessary.
Support the monitoring and observation of children’s development under the guidance of teachers.
Participate in training, mentoring, and development opportunities.
Support extracurricular and enrichment activities where necessary.
Uphold professionalism, integrity, and discretion at all times.
Plan and implement extracurricular activities with the support of the lodge, such as sports, game drives, and outings.
Be willing to grow with the children’s teaching needs up to Grade 10, ages 13 to 15.
Keep an orderly and organised learning environment, both outdoors and indoors.
Demonstrate good social and observational skills.
Work well as part of a team.
Exercise integrity and discretion at all times.
Experience teaching at well-recognised pre-primary or primary schools.
Minimum of 4 years’ work experience, of which 1 to 2 years may be as a trainee.
Enrolled in, planning to enrol for, or completed a BEd, PGCE, Honours, relevant ECD qualification, or similar studies.
Candidates seeking practical teaching experience would be beneficial.
Passionate about working with young children.
Able to work cooperatively within a professional team environment.
Previous experience working with children would be advantageous.
Good command of written and spoken English.

Ability to work independently and show initiative.
Positive, flexible, and adaptable personality.
Good computer literacy.
Code 8 or Code 10 driver’s licence.
Professional Driving Permit would be beneficial.
