Seeking Electrical Chargehand in Howick
Job Title: Electrical ChargehandReport To: Electrical ManagerSeniority Level: Mid CareerRegion: KwaZulu NatalLocation: HowickJob Type: PermanentDuties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervision: Leads a team of Electricians, overseeing daily maintenance, repairs, and installations.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Identifies complex electrical faults, guiding the team to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Planning & Coordination: Creates daily work schedules, assigns tasks, and coordinates with project managers.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensures strict adherence to health and safety regulations and conducts daily checks.
  • Quality Assurance: Tests and certifies installations to ensure they meet standards.
  • Resource Management: Monitors the use of materials, orders spares, and manages equipment.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years' experience as a qualified artisan (electrician), with prior leadership experience.
  • Certification: Matric, Valid Electrical Trade Certificate.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to read drawings, interpret plans, and handle troubleshooting.
  • Leadership: Strong communication skills and the ability to train subordinates
  • Qualifications: Trade Test - Electrician.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with project managers and other trades to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of projects.
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure all work meets safety and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues and provide effective solutions.
  • Mentor and train junior electricians, promoting their professional growth and development.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, installations, and regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and plans.
  • Valid electrical certifications and licenses.
