Minimum Requirements
• Qualification:
BTech or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
Professional registration (PrEng or eligible)
• Experience:
o 8 to 12 years’ proven experience in civil engineering
o Demonstrated experience in:
Roads, stormwater, sewer and water systems design
Project management
Contract administration
Key Responsibilities
The Civil Engineer will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Technical & Design
• Act as Project Leader or Senior Design Engineer on civil engineering projects
• Perform complex civil engineering designs across all aspects of township engineering
• Review and approve project designs and drawings
• Initiate and participate in design reviews, including peer review of other engineers’ projects
• Investigate and propose alternative engineering solutions
• Compile, review, and sign off on technical reports and project documentation
Project & Contract Management
• Manage projects from inception to completion, including scope, timelines, and deliverables
• Prepare manhour budgets and control project finances
• Compile project reports, project sheets, and maintain accurate project records
• Prepare contract documentation and technical specifications, including performance and acceptance criteria
• Monitor and administer construction contracts
• Oversee tendering processes and procurement activities
• Ensure projects are archived in line with current requirements
Quality & Compliance
• Maintain and enforce ISO 9001 quality assurance standards across all projects
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards, legislation, and client requirements
Client & Business Development
• Assist clients with project inception and sourcing of project funding
• Initiate client surveys and request client reference letters
• Take an active role in marketing, client engagement, and identifying future project opportunities
• Support the procurement of new work and business development initiatives
Leadership & Team Management
• Manage and mentor technicians, technologists, and engineers
• Allocate and manage drafting, design, and detailing resources
• Coach, train, and develop junior and mid-level staff
• Assist with managing staffing resources within the division
• Contribute to identifying and addressing the division’s training and development needs
General
• Perform any additional duties as required by the Department Manager or Managing Director
