Stock Controller
Job Summary
The Stock Controller is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring the proper supply and demand of stock across the operation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a complete and detailed inventory database, managing stock documentation, overseeing receiving processes, and personally inspecting deliveries to confirm quantity, quality, and accuracy.
This role requires strong attention to detail, good stock control knowledge, and the ability to work closely with management, stores, suppliers, and operational departments.
Key Responsibilities
Stock Control and Inventory Management
Set and control the stock count process and stock control procedures for wine and beverage inventory.
Capture inventory data and stock counts accurately on the computer system.
Ensure inventory data and stock counts are accurate and up to date.
Conduct spot checks, weekly inventory checks, and regular stock counts.
Manage stock rotation, including stock in fridges and storage areas.
Monitor stock levels and ensure sufficient stock is available to meet operational demand.
Prevent overstocking, stock shortages, and unnecessary ordering.
Keep track of inventory and supplies that need to be restocked.
Variance Control and Reporting
Investigate stock variances and identify reasons for discrepancies.
Prepare variance reports and submit findings to management.
Implement controls to reduce stock losses, wastage, and incorrect stock movement.
Maintain accurate inventory and supply documentation.
Receiving and Quality Control
Receive and inspect incoming stock, equipment, services, and supplies.
Verify receipts and confirm that purchase contents and orders are complete.
Ensure delivered stock meets required quality and quantity standards.
Report incorrect, damaged, or poor-quality stock immediately.
Ensure all received stock is recorded correctly and allocated to the correct areas.
Purchasing and Ordering
Manage purchase orders for incoming equipment, services, and supplies.
Order all beverages according to approved par stock levels.
Identify the need for new stock items and communicate requirements to management.
Work with suppliers to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
Support cost control through accurate ordering and stock monitoring.
Stores and Stock Issues
Oversee the Storeman and stock issuing process to various departments.
Ensure stock is issued correctly and recorded accurately.
Maintain organised, clean, and controlled storage areas.
Ensure stock control procedures are followed by all relevant staff.
Skills and Experience Required
High school qualification or equivalent.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field will be advantageous.
Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Stock Controller, Receiver, or in a related position.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
Advanced Excel skills required.
Accurate and precise with strong attention to detail.
Goal-oriented, organised, and able to work well in a team.
Ability to analyse problems and develop practical solutions.
Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with management and staff at all levels.
Valid Code 08 driver’s licence.
