GM - Sawmilling and FarmingNEWCASTLERole purposeThe General Manager is responsible for the overall performance of the Sawmill operation and its related farming operations.This is a hands-on leadership role, accountable for operational delivery, commercial alignment, and people management across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Sawmill operations
  • Full oversight of all sawmill operations, from log intake to final product output
  • Drive production efficiency, quality, safety, and cost control
  • Track, measure, and report all production outputs accurately
  • Ensure operational discipline, maintenance planning, and continuous improvement
• Commercial integration
  • Ensure clear alignment between sawmill output and the commercial side of the wider business
  • Provide accurate, timely production data to support sales, forecasting, and planning
  • Work closely with commercial leadership to maximize value and profitability
• Farm operations leadership
  • Direct line management of farm managers
  • Set direction and guide operations across:
  • Beef production
  • Macadamia orchards
  • Forestry
  • Ensure coherent planning, performance tracking, and disciplined execution across all farming units
• Leadership & accountability
  • Build a strong, accountable management team
  • Set clear priorities, targets, and operating rhythms
  • Own budgets, performance outcomes, and delivery against plan
