An established accounting firm based in Hillcrest is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join their team. This is a hands-on role within a fast-paced, multi-client environment, requiring strong technical ability, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple sets of books efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
• Full bookkeeping function for a portfolio of approximately 18–20 clients
• Processing daily transactions including cashbooks, journals, accruals, and provisions
• Preparing books up to trial balance
• Managing debtors and creditors, including reconciliations
• Performing monthly bank, loan, and credit card reconciliations
• Maintaining the integrity of the general ledger
• Identifying and resolving discrepancies independently
Minimum Requirements
Experience & Technical Skills
• Proven experience in bookkeeping to trial balance (non-negotiable)
• Minimum 2 years’ experience working on Pastel Partner
• Strong understanding of:
o Balance sheet and income statement
o General ledger and journal entries
• Experience managing multiple clients/accounts simultaneously
Systems & Software
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including:
o Data analysis and reconciliations
o Use of formulas such as VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP and SUMIF
• Ability to work efficiently across accounting systems and supporting schedules
Core Competencies
• Strong reconciliation skills across:
o Bank accounts
o Loans and credit cards
o Debtors and creditors
• Ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies accurately
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organisational and time management skills
Qualifications
• Diploma or Degree in Accounting/Finance or
• Bookkeeping qualification (NQF Level 4 or equivalent)
